Aberdeen has a wide variety of shot requirements; from demands on length to the need for precision, it also favors shaped shots to landing areas and into greens. As on the actual links courses, changing winds always seem to be a factor. The golf course allows so many different types of shots, the course sets up as a true shotmakers paradise.
The zoysiagrass fairways and greens surrounds are trimmed closely to allow varied shots especially running shots, and the bentgrass greens are maintained in a firm condition in an attempt to replicate playing conditions found on the true links courses.

While true links land is not present in Missouri, the Meramec River floodplain has been sculpted to resemble the landscape found on the old courses in Scotland. The course character and strategy are adaptations of the elements found on the classic links courses. Pace of Play
TEE IT FORWARD!! Professionals don’t have to hit hybrids into par 4’s so why should you? Play up a tee box or two and enjoy the course the way it was designed. Our goal here at Aberdeen Golf Club is to create a great golfing experience and that includes completing 18 holes of golf in 4 hours and 15 minutes or less, depending on course conditions and amount of players. Every player deserves a timely round of golf and our Players assistants will be monitoring play.
Please keep up with the group in front of you, stay in position on the course and play the appropriate tee boxes. Should repositioning or other adjustments be necessary, please cooperate with our player assistants and follow their instructions. Please do not take it personally when asked to pick up the pace of play. We are just trying to make the round enjoyable for everyone that day. If the golf course is full and you are a single, twosome, or threesome, do not expect to play through the group in front of you. You will be expected to play at the pace of the rest of the groups. Aberdeen has the right to pair up any player/players to fill out a foursome.
