This hole plays 424 yards from the rear tee, and about 378 yards from the middle tee. The fairway runs between dune mounding with two fairway bunkers on the left. Two bunkers located at both front corners of the green guard all approach shots. This is the first of Aberdeen’s double greens; it shares a putting surface with the sixth hole.

The second hole at Aberdeen, "Whitty"

This short, slight dogleg left plays 361 yards from the rear tee and 321 yards from the middle tee. Placement of the tee shot is critical as the green is protected by the smaller of Aberdeen’s two lakes, “Wee Loch”. A bunker on the right front corner of the green discourages bailing out right.

The third hole at Aberdeen, "Kern's Knoll"

The first of two par 3’s on the front nine, this hole plays 182 yards from the rear tee and about 124 yards from the middle tee. The green is elevated and two-tiered, guarded by a bunker on the right front corner and left flank. Shots left and short risk ending up in “Wee Loch.”

This difficult hole will test any players golfing ability, as its name Prowess suggests. This long dogleg right plays 442 yards from the back tee and 390 yards from the middle tee. Two fairway bunkers may come into play at the elbow of the dogleg. A long approach shot is to an elevated green guarded by, “Timothy’s Torment,” a deep sod faced bunker in front of the right side of the two-tiered green. Shots left or right will end up in grassy hollows. Long approach shots will end up in jail.

The first of the back-to-back par fives, this dogleg left may be reached in two by long hitters. Players will want to direct their tee shot between two fairway bunkers. The green is guarded by, “The Abbey”, a huge bunker which must be carried by those trying to get home in two. A lay-up second shot leaves a short approach into a double green.

Playing 531 yards from the rear tee and only 479 from the middle tee, Auld Glen is the shorter of the two back-to-back par fives; this hole is also a reachable in two. Both a deep bunker and a flanking bunker on the right guard the green. The hole will yield more birdies to players who hit a lay-up second shot.

This is a player’s introduction to, “Loch Myst,” the second of the two lakes on the front nine. Playing 433 yards from the back tee and 385 from the middle tee, the hole runs along side of “Loch Myst,” from the tee to green. The ninth and eighteenth hole share the same putting surface. Only one fairway bunker awaits to tests a player’s ability.

The tenth hole plays uphill through a myriad of bunkers to a small green guarded by deep bunkers, one of which is sod faced. While only 346 yards from the rear tee, this hole demands precise execution if a golfer wishes to finish the hole with par or better.

Eleven is a short downhill par three to a green guarded by two deep bunkers, one of which is sod faced. Getting the ball on this green does not guarantee a par, as breaking putts are hard to discern. Two putts are a luxury.

Number twelve is the first of four long par fours on the back nine. This hole is 449 yards from the back tee and definitely deserves its name, “Tenacity.” This straight hole runs between large dunes on the right and a long drainage canal on the left, the “Twa Burn.” Golfers beware, a fairway bunker is found in the dunes on the right and two deep bunkers protect the large green.

Thirteen could be an unlucky number at Aberdeen; this 439 yard hole not only plays between the Twa’ Burn and Ol’ Gregor Burn, it also plays into the prevailing wind. A fairway bunker lurks on the left side of the fairway, and the only trees on the course are found on the right. A bunker sits on the right front corner of the large green that slopes from front to back.

This hole is the shortest of all Aberdeen’s par fives. “Discipline” is the key; players are sure to be tempted to go for the green in two. The landing area is bunkered right and left, inviting errant tee shots. The green plays right of the fairway and is guarded by bunkers, grassy hollows, and irregular terrain. Par is not a problem, but birdies are well earned.

This 457-yard monster is the longest of its fellow par fours. It has a fairway bunker on the left, Barry Burn, another drainage canal, on the right, and Auberdauber, a sod faced bunker on the left front of the green. The rear portion of the medium sized green runs away from approach shots.

Sixteen is a par three that plays 183 yards from the back tee and 136 from the middle tee. Deep bunkers are diagonal along the left side of the green. Another deep bunker flanks the right side. As in a true, “Redan,” style hole, the rear half of the green is pitched to the left and rear.

“Grip it and rip it!” This hole plays 456 yards from its tip and invites the player to bite off as much they can chew. A mirror of hole number nine, eighteen also runs along “Loch Myst” from tee to green. Fairway bunkers on the right inhibit bailing out away from the water. The long second shot is to a large green protected diagonally by “Loch Myst” on the left and bunkers, mounds, and grassy hollows on the right.
